What (or who) is Kear Stevens?
To many, the words “Kear” and “Stevens” together have a faint familiarity. Some have been heard to say, “Weren’t they that 60s German prog rock group that disappeared in a freak paddleboat accident?” Others swear it’s a rare fatigue syndrome suffered mainly by inbred European monarchs. Still others believe it’s a 17th century Masonic code phrase for procuring venison meat.
Several prominent etymology experts associate Kear Stevens with a certain advertising agency in the western United States (circa Denver, Colorado). However, most of the general public is unfamiliar with this attribution, and to this day the term “Kear Stevens” is shrouded in a cloud of secrecy and misdirection.
In 2005, IPECAAC enlisted the internationally acclaimed Swiss research collective La Verdis to conduct an investigation on the phenomena of Kear Stevens. Their findings were baffling and inconclusive.
Although certain classic characteristics of an advertising agency were displayed (see
Collected Documentation), they discovered a shocking lack of ego and gratuitous self-promotion, which is evident in the relative anonymity of the name Kear Stevens.
Collected here are many of the details uncovered by this investigation as well as subsequent findings submitted by private parties.
